Not a Replacement, But Augmentation

There is a fear that AI will take human jobs in the future. According to Rama Mamuaya, CEO of Dailysocial and Digital Transformation Practitioner, this is actually quite natural.

It is a very natural fear because if we lookcaseOut there, humans are replaced by AI.It’s not fiction.“Yeah, it really looks like that,” said Rama to, Friday (9/26).

However, Rama also believes that AI can operate on its own. Therefore, he said, the role of humans will not be replaced. Instead, AI will becomeaugmentationalias auxiliary for humans.

their face [people] see the problem, the way they look for a solution, the way they, for example, manage risks, it’s different, right? Well, the role of humans is still…strong“and I always say, don’t be afraid of being replaced by AI, be afraid when you are replaced by someone who can use AI wisely,” he explained.

She emphasized that in the next five to ten years, the role of humans will remain strong. “Maybe yes, human AI”augmentationIt will beVery dominant. Not replacementYes,augmentation,” said Rama.

Following Rama, Sri Safitri, Secretary General of the Indonesian Partnership for Research & Innovation Collaboration in Artificial Intelligence (KORIKA), stated that indeed, some jobs will be replaced by AI. However, she ensured that human involvement in work will still exist.

The more AI is used in industrial needs, actually human jobs are not replaced, only their roles shift from manual work to more analytical, creative work and supervision of AI work itself. Well, however, industries that are wise can combine AI with humans, where the term ishuman in the loopto be able to produce the best results, “he explained to”,Your (29/09).

We recommend that there should be efforts to balance AI capabilities with human control. The purpose is for the industry to be able to produce quality services and products.

“So, the company combines improving work productivity with AI, but also provides training to its employees so they can adapt to new roles that add value. Well, obviously, this allows them to achieve the best of both approaches,” he said.

Need Regulation to Protect Workers

Sri emphasized that the government needs to play a role in protecting workers through national regulations, which can regulate safety standards, transparency standards, and AI audit standards. In addition, it is also necessary to regulate legal responsibility if AI causes damage.

“Government can also be expected to increase education investment and reskilling by providing AI literacy training for workers in high-risk sectors,” he added.

For Sri, there also needs to be a subsidy scheme for companies that retain workers through upskilling and ensure adaptive social protection by strengthening unemployment insurance.

This has already been done by the government, for example in the UAE, unemployment insurance. Well, the second one is the need for exploring new models, how for example like aPSKilling Allowance,” he said.

Currently, more companies are neutral towards AI, at 51 percent. Followed by those who are very supportive at 27 percent, and somewhat supportive at 15 percent. According to Sri, this is not unrelated to the legal uncertainty regarding AI.

” The company chose neutrality because the regulations are not yet clear, how about the related regulations such as the Personal Data Protection Law, in Indonesia there is still no standard. There is a standard for AI, but not all industries know the rules related to, for example, AI bias, AI ethics, and legal responsibility when AI causes damage,” he emphasized.
