Snapdragon 6S Gen 4 Released, Medium HP Gets 200 MP Camera

Explanation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 6S Gen 4

Qualcomm has launched its newest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. This chip is designed to provide significant improvements in terms of performance, connectivity, and camera capabilities of up to 200 MP. With this release, Qualcomm demonstrates its commitment to expanding the use of advanced technology in various market segments.

Improved fabrication technology

One of the main improvements to the Snapdragon 6S Gen 4 is the use of 4 nanometer (nm) fabrication technology. This is a fairly rapid increase compared to the previous generation, namely the Snapdragon 6S Gen 3 which uses 6 nm fabrication. 4 nm technology is usually used on flagship chips such as the Snapdragon 8 series, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

With 4 nm fabrication, this chip can work faster while consuming more power efficiently. Qualcomm claims that the CPU performance improvement is 36 percent faster, while the GPU has increased by 59 percent compared to the previous generation. This system-on-chip (SOC) consists of eight KRYO CPU cores, with four performance cores of up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz. This combination is designed to ensure multitasking runs smoothly, the application opens faster, and the game can be run responsively without heat quickly.

144Hz screen and smooth gaming experience

Snapdragon 6S Gen 4 also brings great improvements to the visual and gaming experience. This chip supports a Full HD + resolution screen with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, the equivalent of a high-end gaming phone. The higher the “Hz” number (Hertz), the more images that can be displayed every second. That is, the movement on the screen looks smoother.

In addition, Qualcomm embeds the Snapdragon Elite Gaming feature, which includes Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Quick Touch games. These two features serve to speed up the touch response and reduce lag during game play. The GPU used today also supports various modern graphics standards such as Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 FP, which ensure stable performance in various applications and the latest 3D games.

Camera up to 200 MP

On the photography side, the Snapdragon 6S Gen 4 relies on a Qualcomm Spectra ISP image processor that can handle cameras with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels. This chip also supports 2K 30 fps video recording, and is equipped with a multi-frame noise reduction feature that works directly at the hardware level to reduce noise (spots) on photos, especially in low light conditions.

5G and WiFi-6E connectivity

Not to forget, the Snapdragon 6S Gen 4 also brings a big improvement in the connectivity sector. This chip supports 5G Release 16 network with MMWave and SUB-6GHz technology, ensuring high internet speed in various network conditions. On the WiFi side, there is support for WiFi 6E with speeds up to 2.9 Gbps. While Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity provides better power efficiency and wider range.

complete specifications and manufacturers who will use

Qualcomm has not officially announced which manufacturer will first use the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. However, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Motorola vendors are predicted to adopt this chip in their mid-range mobile line, replacing models who still use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or 695. The complete specifications of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip can be read through the following specification sheet.
