Revitalization of the Traffic Law Enforcement System
The Republic of Indonesia Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) is revitalizing the electronic law enforcement system or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE). With this innovation, Korlantas seeks to increase efficiency and transparency in the implementation of traffic rules throughout Indonesia.
Several of the latest technological devices such as ETLE Mobile, ETLE Portable, and Thermal Printer were officially introduced at the NTMC Korlantas Polri field some time ago. All of these devices have been integrated with the National ETLE system (ETLE-nas) and are directly used in field operations.
The use of this device is not just limited to Operation Zebra. The new enforcement equipment package includes printing ticket evidence to a monitoring system that can be accessed in real time by officers. This ensures that the law enforcement process is faster and more accurate.
Advantages of ETLE Portable
The main advantage of ETLE Portable is its flexibility of use. In contrast to static ETLE which is permanently installed, the portable version can be moved according to monitoring needs. This equipment can even be moved situationally, for example if there is a certain area where traffic violations or accidents often occur. If the violations have reduced, the equipment can be moved to another location.
Currently, ETLE Mobile and Portable have been used in several regions such as the Regional Police of West Java, East Java, DIY and Central Java. For areas outside Java, this device will be available in the near future.
Opinion from the National Police Traffic Corps Directorate General of Police
Dirgakkum Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Pol Faizal, S.I.K., M.H. emphasized that this new system provides convenience for the community while strengthening transparency in the field. According to him, people no longer need to come to the bank to pay traffic fines. Instead, they can pay the fine directly on the spot, so that proof of the ticket can be printed and given immediately.
“Instead of coming to the bank, you can immediately pay the fine on the spot. So it will be printed straight away and proof will be given,” he said.
He added that this device will soon be used massively in all traffic units. According to him, the ETLE Mobile and Thermal Printer system is not only efficient, but also closes gaps in non-transparent practices in the law enforcement process.
He explained further that this new device makes it easier for people to no longer need to go to the reference bank to pay traffic tickets. Furthermore, the existence of ticketing equipment will close opportunities for officers to carry out hidden transactions.
Benefits for the Community and Officers
With an integrated ETLE system, people will feel safer and more comfortable in traffic. The process of prosecuting traffic violations becomes faster, more accurate and transparent. On the other hand, officers also benefit because they no longer need to carry out manual steps which can reduce work efficiency.
Apart from that, this system also provides an opportunity for the public to more easily understand traffic law procedures. By printing ticket evidence directly on the spot, the public can immediately understand the consequences of the violations committed.
Thus, the new ETLE system is expected to be able to create a better and more harmonious traffic environment between the public and officers.
