Samsung Brings Perplexity to Smart TV, Can Ask AI Directly from the Screen

News summary:

– Samsung smart TVs are becoming smarter now, as they are integrated with the AI-powered search engine app Perplexity.

The integration was made possible through Samsung’s collaboration with the AI startup Perplexity.

As for the AI search engine Perplexity, it allows users to explore the internet more deeply than Google Search or similar search engines.

With the arrival of the Perplexity app on Samsung TVs, users can search on the television via Perplexity.

Since Perplexity is also supported by a chatbot, Samsung TV users can ask questions or give commands to Perplexity using voice or text through the app on the television.

“Samsung’s partnership with Perplexity will bring cutting-edge AI technology, redefining the way Samsung device owners interact with their TVs,” said Dan Glassman, Senior Director & Head of New Business Development for Samsung Electronics.

Samsung also stated that users can use Perplexity to plan trips, find films by a specific director, and so on, directly from the TV.

To access Perplexity on Samsung TV, users just need to open the App Tab and click on Perplexity. Users can also access the Samsung Vision AI Companion feature through the AI Button.

As with other devices, users need to accept the terms and conditions and allow Perplexity to access the microphone if they want to use this AI via voice commands.

Regarding availability, this AI-powered search engine will be available starting October 21, 2025, on selected 2025 Samsung TVs.

The same support will be expanded to other 2024 and 2023 Samsung TVs through updates to be released at the end of this year.

As part of this collaboration, Samsung TV users also receive a 12-month subscription offer to Perplexity Pro, compiledKompasTeknofromNeowin, Thursday (10/23/2025).

Samsung TV can chat via Copilot AI

In addition to Perplexity, Samsung TV can also chat via the AI Copilot chatbot. This support is made possible through the collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft, announced at the end of August 2025.

Through this collaboration, Copilot can be set up and become the voice assistant option for Samsung TVs and monitors. Samsung TVs and monitors already have their own voice assistant, which is Bixby.

Thus, users can ask for Copilot’s help via voice, like chatting, when using that Samsung device.

According to Microsoft, Copilot support will make users’ TVs or monitors smarter, more personal, and more enjoyable.

“Copilot is there when you and your family want to find something to watch together, get answers to your questions, plan a weekend, or just relax together,” said David Washington, General Manager Partner at Microsoft AI.

For example, users could ask Copilot to search for cooking events lasting less than two hours, summarize the content they’ve already watched up to the latest episode, or challenge the AI assistant to find suitable content across users and genres.

In addition, Microsoft explained that users of Samsung TVs and monitors can command Copilot to search for and explain actors or directors, or simply ask about the weather forecast.

AI Copilot assistant is available on several Samsung TV and monitor models, including Micro RGB TVs, Neo QLED series, OLED, and The Frame Pro.

As for monitors, Copilot support is available on Samsung monitor models M7, M8, and M9. However, its availability will be expanded to Samsung smart TVs and other smart monitors in the near future.

For users of the above devices, they will see the appearance of Copilot on the Samsung Tizen OS home screen, Samsung Daily Plus, and Click to Search.

After being activated, users just need to press the microphone button on the Samsung remote and speak to Copilot. Microsoft claims that conversations with its AI assistant can be done naturally, without being stiff.

Users are not required to have a Microsoft account to access Copilot from a Samsung TV or monitor. However, users can get additional features by using a Microsoft account, such as personalized features and expanded memory.

According to Microsoft, the availability of Copilot for Samsung TVs and monitors will initially be rolled out to a limited number of countries. However, its availability will be expanded to other countries.

Unfortunately, this American company did not specify the country in question. Users can often check the app tab on Samsung TVs and monitors above to ensure the availability of Copilot.KompasTeknofrom the official Microsoft blog.
