PLN Rates Per Kwh 2023

LWizard is a very important basic need in everyday life. Every home, business, and industry requires a reliable supply of electricity to carry out various activities. In Indonesia, PT PLN (Persero) is a state electricity company that is responsible for providing electricity supply to the public. One of the important aspects in the use of electricity is the tariff per kWh that must be paid by the customer. In this article, we will explore and understand the PLN tariff per kWh in Indonesia.

PLN uses a different tariff system for different types of customers. There are three main tariff groups applied, namely the R-1 tariff for households, the class B tariff for business, and the class I tariff for industry. Let’s discuss each of these rates in more detail.

  1. R-1 (household) class tariff: R-1 class tariff is applied to households with relatively small electrical power. These rates are further divided into several categories, such as R-1/450VA, R-1/900VA, R-1/1300VA, R-1/2200VA, and R-1/3500VA. The rate per kWh for each category is different.

For example, for the R-1/450VA, the tariff per kWh applied was Rp1,467 at the beginning of 2023. However, it is important to note that this tariff can change from time to time in accordance with PLN policies and related government regulations.

  1. Class B tariffs (business): Class B tariffs are applied to business customers with greater electrical power than households. These rates also have several subgroups, such as B1, B2, B3, B4, and B5. Each subgroup has a different rate per kWh and is determined based on the amount of power used by the customer.

Class B tariffs are often higher than the R-1 tariff because of the greater power requirements in business operations. These tariffs are also subject to changes that can be caused by external factors such as fluctuations in global energy prices and government policies.

  1. Class I Tariff (Industry): Class I tariffs are applied to industrial customers with very large power requirements. Industrial customers often use machines and equipment that require a very large supply of electricity for their operations.

Group I tariffs are more complex because they depend on factors such as usage level, usage time, and the characteristics of the industry concerned. In some cases, industry customers can obtain lower tariffs through special agreements with PLN, especially if they are very large consumers.
