No increase in electricity rates
The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures that non-subsidized electricity tariffs are not adjusted in the third quarter (July–September) 2025. This decision has remained stable since the first quarter (January–March) 2025.
The same goes for subsidies. Until the third quarter of 2025, the electricity tariff still refers to the previous regulation without any new price adjustments. Thus, PLN customers from the subsidy, household, and business groups still pay the old tariff without worrying about a surge in bills.
Alasan Penetapan Tarif Listrik
The determination of electricity tariffs is carried out every three months based on the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 7 of 2024 concerning Electricity Tariffs provided by PT PLN (Persero). The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources uses changes in the realization of macroeconomic parameters in setting tariffs, such as Indonesian crude oil prices (ICP), inflation, and reference coal prices (HBA).
Macroeconomic parameters for the third quarter of 2025 refer to the realization of the period from February to April 2025. Although accumulatively changing these parameters should cause tariff increases, the government decided not to make adjustments in order to increase people’s purchasing power and industrial competitiveness.
Conclusion
In general, there is no increase in electricity tariffs in the period of August 2025. However, customers can ensure the latest information through the list of applicable electricity tariffs. With this tariff stability, the public and business actors can plan the use of electricity more effectively without worrying about rising costs.
