New Features in HyperOS 3

Hyperos 3 offers a number of new features and improvements compared to the previous generation, HyperOS 2. One of the features that is the main attraction is the screen circle. This feature is similar to Circle to Search from Google which already exists on many Android phones.

With Screen Circle, users can search for information based on text, images, or whatever they circle on the screen. In addition to looking for information, users can also translate to share information about text or images that have been circled.

Screen Circle relies on a Xiaomi AI assistant named Super Xiaoai Assistant. This AI is claimed to be able to understand the context related to what appears on the screen. When looking at food, for example, this digital assistant can recommend food recipes.

Beyond understanding the context, Super XiaoAi Assistant can also access the AI features in devices (on-device AI) in more than 80 applications, and can control other Xiaomi devices in an environment or ecosystem.

Share files with the Apple Ecosystem

Regarding the ecosystem, Hyperos 3 can also now be used to share files with devices outside the Xiaomi ecosystem, namely the Apple ecosystem. Users can now send files and photos to and from the iPhone seamlessly without any problems.

Xiaomi phone users who use HyperOS 3 can also access the device screen through a MacBook without any hassle. In addition, the user’s cellphone can now be accessed through Apple’s biometric system such as Touch ID or Face ID.

Super Island view

Hyperos 3 brings a new design, namely Super Island. This feature was also introduced when the Xiaomi 17 Series was released yesterday. Super Island is a design feature similar to Dynamic Island on iPhone devices.

With Super Island, the punch hole hole in the middle of the top of the screen, which is usually circular, seems to be wide to the left and right, so that the shape will resemble a “capsule”. This area widening will follow information and notifications from certain applications. Xiaomi says Super Island supports more than 70 services and applications, ranging from timers, music adjusters, alarms, food or service ordering status, and much more.

Lock screen is fresher

Xiaomi also brings a lock screen display with a fresher design. This display is dubbed the cinematic lock screen. Xiaomi phones with HyperOS 3 can also now use dynamic and cinematic wallpapers made using AI.

Another new thing regarding design is the device customization menu that is now in one view, as well as the Gallery application (photos) which looks more manageable and “nice” to look at.

Security features

From the security side, Xiaomi added two-stage authentication (Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for user accounts that use multiple devices. The overall HyperOS 3 security system is also now claimed to be more robust, with data protection called stronger.

Then, the application permission control installed in HyperOS 3 will also be more detailed, and the device tracking feature will also now remain active even if the phone is off. Overall HyperOS 3 also provides improved performance.

The technology of the “hypercore” system in it is claimed to reduce the CPU load by about 4 percent, and increase energy efficiency by up to 10 percent. Xiaomi’s latest interface is also said to be able to increase the smoothness of the game and visuals by up to 18.9 percent.

Other claims for HyperOS are the launch or opening of the application which is claimed to be 21 percent faster, video playback is 10 percent more capable, and a better touch response with reduced latency by about 9 percent from the previous generation.
