Simple Ways to Stop Ads While Browsing, Effective for HP and PC

Eliminate ads while browsing by setting up DNS

Setting the Domain Name System (DNS) settings on your device is one effective way to reduce or even eliminate ads when surfing the internet. This method works by redirecting connection requests that are usually sent to Internet service providers (ISPs) to public DNS servers. Thus, requests associated with ads can be blocked before they appear on the screen.

When you open a website, the browser will send a request to the DNS server to translate the site’s domain name. If the custom DNS you are using has a list of ad server filtering, then the request will be blocked, so that the ad will not appear on the web page you are visiting. Here are the steps to set up custom DNS on various platforms such as Android, iPhone, and Google Chrome.

How To Set Up Custom DNS on Android

  1. Open Settings (Settings) on Android devices.
  2. Select the “Network & Internet” option (Network & Internet).
  3. Search for “Advanced Connection Settings” (More Connection Settings) or directly type “Private DNS” (Private DNS) in the search box.
  4. Select the “Custom DNS” option.
  5. Enter the DNS address that has been selected, such as Adguard. Example address: dns.adguard-dns.com.
  6. After copying the link, paste it in the column provided.
  7. Test the effectiveness of this method by visiting sites such as adblock.turtlecute.org.

How to set up custom DNS in Google Chrome (PC, Mac, ChromeOS)

  1. Open the Google Chrome app.
  2. Click the three dots in the right corner of the screen.
  3. Select “Settings” (Settings), usually located at the bottom.
  4. On the left menu, click “Privacy and Security”, then select “Security”.
  5. Scroll down until you find the “Use Secure DNS” section.
  6. Select the “Custom DNS Provider” option if you want to use DNS services that are not available by default.
  7. To change the DNS settings, enter the URL address of the selected DNS provider. For example, for Adguard DNS, copy and paste the following link: https://dns.adguard.com/dns-query.
  8. #atfp_close_translate_span#

How to set up custom DNS on iPhone and iPad (iOS and iPadOS)

  1. Download the DnSecure app from the App Store.
  2. Tap the “+” button, then select “DNS-over-https”.
  3. Name it “doh.tiar.app” and press “return”.
  4. Enter the following link: https://doh.tiar.app/dns-query#atfp_close_translate_span# or https://doh.tiarap.org/dns-query,#atfp_close_translate_span# then press “return”.
  5. Press the “Use this server” button to save the settings.
  6. Go to “VPN & Network” settings and select “DNS” to enable DnSecure.

The above method is very effective in removing ad system-wide in the mobile version. However, if you often play games and get free items by watching in-game ads, you should first disable this ad block feature. The reason is, ads in the application will also be blocked and can interfere with your playing experience.
