Watch out! These 2 Signs of the Remote Keyless Motor Battery Start to Broke

Technological developments on the latest motorcycles have brought significant changes in how to use keys. Many motors are now equipped with a keyless system that uses a remote as a substitute for conventional keys. This system provides convenience and security, but also requires extra attention to the condition of the remote battery.

If your motorbike is one of the keyless features, it is important to always be aware of the condition of the remote battery. Because if the battery runs out in the middle of the activity, it can cause difficulties when you want to start the vehicle.

Before the battery is completely discharged, there are usually signs indicating that the remote keyless battery is starting to weaken. Here are two characteristics that often appear:
1. Signs on the Speedometer
In some types of motors, the keyless remote battery weakness indicator can be detected via a speedometer. For example, on a Honda motorcycle, there is an indicator indicating that the remote battery is starting to weaken and needs to be replaced.
“The Honda Smartkey (HSK) logo will blink five times when the remote battery is starting to weak,” explained Ade Muhajir from the Technical Service Education (TSD) team when met some time ago.

This indicator appears when the motor is ON, even though the engine has not been started. This is an early warning for motorists to immediately replace the battery.
2. Remote is less sensitive
The second characteristic is when the remote keyless starts to be less responsive. If the remote battery is weak, then the motor will be difficult to detect the presence of the remote.
“When the battery starts to weaken, the remote becomes less sensitive,” said Suyanto, the owner of a key duplicate specialist workshop.
Under normal conditions, the remote can be read by the motor within one to two meters. However, when the battery is weakened, even from close range the remote does not respond immediately.
This can be very inconvenient, especially when on a trip. To avoid this, you should prepare a remote battery backup.
Tips Menyimpan Baterai Cadangan
Remote keyless batteries generally have a small size, similar to watch batteries. With its small shape, this battery is easy to store in a bag or wallet.
“I recommend always storing backup batteries, especially if you often travel far,” said Suyanto.
For Honda motorcycles, remote keyless batteries usually use the CR2032 type. This battery replacement is quite simple and can be done alone or in a specialist workshop.
By understanding the signs of a remote keyless battery starting to run out, the driver can be more alert and ready to face emergency situations. Always make sure the remote battery is in good condition so that the use of the motor remains comfortable and safe.
