how to calculate pln electricity bill

In addition to checking bills online, PLN customers can also calculate their own estimated monthly electricity costs. This calculation is useful for monitoring power consumption while helping to regulate electricity usage to be more efficient.

Postpaid customers can manually calculate electricity bills with a simple formula. Each customer is subject to a different basic electricity tariff (TDL), depending on the electric power class (VA) used. The higher the electrical power, the greater the applicable tariff.

To start, customers can check daily electricity consumption in the meter in kilowatt hour units (kWh). After that, the total use of electricity is multiplied by the basic electricity tariff that applies from PLN.

For example, non-subsidized household customers with 900 VA power use 17.37 kWh or 17,370 watts per day. With the basic electricity tariff in October 2025 of Rp. 1,325 per kWh, the electricity cost per day reaches around Rp. 23,015. When multiplied by 30 days, the estimated monthly electricity bill is around Rp. 690,450.
