Instagram users can reel and post other accounts
New Instagram features to enhance interaction and connectivity
Instagram, one of the world’s largest social media platforms, has just launched three new features designed to enhance the user experience in creating content and interacting with other friends and creators. These three features include repost, location sharing feature using Maps, and a new tab called “Friends” for IG Reels content.
The first feature introduced is Repost. The repost function is basically similar to retweeting on platform X (formerly Twitter). With Repost, users can re-upload content from other accounts as part of their own personal content. Each re-upload will display credit to the original owner of the content and the person who reposts. Reposted content will appear in a new tab in the user’s profile with the arrow logo forming a circle. This makes it easier for users to separate original content and re-uploaded content. In addition, the Instagram algorithm will recommend the content to followers of the repost account, thereby expanding the reach of content.
In addition to reposting, Instagram also introduces features share location. Users can now share certain locations with friends or followers as they wish. This feature can be activated or disabled as needed. With this feature, users can find out where creators create content, or find interesting photo spots to visit. Instagram calls this feature a new way to connect more lightly, because users can choose to share locations only with followers, close friends, or friends who are selected independently. In addition, users can also set location settings so as not to share specific information with others. This feature is also suitable for parents who want to monitor their child’s location, provide an opportunity to discuss security in sharing information.
The third feature introduced is New tab named “Friends”. When accessing Reels content, users will only see content created by friends, creators followed, or recommendations from algorithms. At the bottom of the screen, a new tab will appear called “Friends” containing a row of content that is liked, interaction, or commented on by the user’s friends. The content on the Friends tab will also recommend Blend content, which is the IG feature which was released in April 2025 and allows users to create feeds containing a collection of reels that can be shared with other users or group chats.
The availability of these three features is currently still limited in the United States, but Instagram promises that all three will be released globally in the near future. To gain access to these latest features, be sure to always update the Instagram app on Android and iOS devices through official app stores like Play Store or Apple App Store.
