Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

POn January 17th, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S24 Ultra along with the S24 and S24+. This phone is expected to be the best from Samsung until now, carrying a number of improvements both in terms of large and small. This is what we can expect based on the rumors and leaks that have been circulating.

Titanium frame

Like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will use titanium alloys on the frame to reduce weight. This very strong titanium, when combined with aluminum, can create a lightweight phone. As Apple has proven, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also expected to reduce its weight by about 20 grams.

Samsung will launch the S24 Ultra in four colors – Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, Titanium Gray, and Titanium Yellow. It is also hoped that there will also be additional exclusive colors online through Samsung’s retail store – the Ultra version currently comes in Graphite, Sky Blue, Lime, and Red.

Bright flat screen

The Galaxy S23 Ultra underwent a slight change in the curvature of the screen, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra seems to completely eliminate the curvature. This can be a big advantage or disappointment, depending on your preference in flat screen vs curved screen debate. To be sure, the flat screen allows the use of regular glass screen protectors without the need for additional adhesives.

This screen will have a brightness level of up to 2,600 nits but still use a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1440x3088px and a refresh rate of 1-120Hz, such as which we have known since the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

S Pen

One of the mainstay features of the Galaxy S Ultra is the S Pen, and you can be sure that the S24 Ultra will also be equipped with one of them. While it is not yet known whether this new pen will be smarter or better, the FCC certification indicates that the pen is not changing.

New 5X camera, with 200MP + 10MP + 12MP sensor that hasn’t changed

There is a lot of speculation about the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera setup. It seems, Samsung will be adding a new camera module with a 5X zoom which will most likely be a periscope unit with a 50MP sensor. We estimate that this camera will double as a 10x and 100x camera, utilizing superior sensors and optics for existing 10x cameras.

In addition, we will also see the 200MP main sensor of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, a 10MP 3X zoom camera which is most likely the same as the previous model, and a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 12MP selfie camera on the front.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with AI

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will universally use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 worldwide. It will be combined with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS storage of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB.

Samsung is reportedly almost doubled the steam chamber from the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which should improve thermal performance. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be Samsung’s most advanced AI phone. This phone will have Live Translate On-Demand – you can speak in a foreign language directly through the phone application and translate it in real-time. Other AI features include Dynamic Lock Screen and Smart Keyboard as part of One UI 6.1.

Back to camera. Although the optical hardware is the same (except the 5X camera), the new chipset will bring a number of improvements. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a main camera photo optimized by AI. Samsung has reportedly absorbed the opaque output of the Galaxy S23 Ultra using a new algorithm that can recognize 12 types of objects.

Night mode also gets better. Nightography Zoom will bring brighter night photos with a zoom camera. Generative Edit is another AI feature, which allows you to move or delete objects, or fill the space with whatever you want (requires a Samsung account and an internet connection).

battery and charging

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will use the same 5,000mAh battery as its predecessor, with the same 45W cable charging and 15W wireless charging, as well as 0-65% charging speed in the same 30 minutes.

Emergency message via satellite

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be equipped with emergency message support via satellite according to the 3GPP standard, but it is still unclear whether all markets will offer this feature and how much it will charge.

Price

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will come in 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and 12/1TB, priced respectively €1,449, €1,569, and €1,809. Samsung will once again offer a bonus pre-order – everyone who makes an order before the launch will get double storage at the same price – basically, a 512GB phone with a 256GB phone price.
