Samsung Announcement About Three Folding Phones
Samsung, a smartphone vendor from South Korea, has confirmed that its first tri-fold phone will be released in the second half of 2025. This information is submitted by the President & Acting Head Device Experience Division of Samsung Electronics, TM Roh, after the Galaxy Unpacked event which was held on July 9 last. This was also reaffirmed in a session Earning Call with investors on July 31 last.
However, Samsung has not provided a definite release schedule. However, there is news that the Samsung triple screen phone will be released in October. This news comes from a gadget tipter named “I Ice Universe” on social media Weibo in China. The tipter states that Samsung’s tri-fold phone is likely to be released after the second generation Huawei Mate XT Ultimate.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate itself is a triple screen phone that was released globally in February 2025. Even so, the certainty of this information still needs to be confirmed because Samsung has not officially announced the exact release date.
Samsung triple phone concept and design
Previously, the concept of Samsung’s triple screen phone was shown at two major technology exhibitions, namely the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, and Computex 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan. Samsung first introduced the Flex G concept in early 2022, but the real form of this phone was only seen at MWC 2025. At that time, the phone was still on display in a “locked” condition.
At Computex 2025, limited visitors can hold and try hands-ons on the Samsung triple screen phone. This prototype model has the name Samsung Flex G or G Flex. Different from tri-fold phones that are already on the market, Flex G uses a folding mechanism like opening a book page. This is different from the crease mechanism of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate which resembles a zigzag.
To fold the Samsung Flex G, the leftmost screen is folded first overwriting the middle screen. Then the rightmost screen is folded over the other two parts of the screen. When both sides of the screen are folded, the screen will merge into the middle screen to become three layers of the screen.
When fully stretched, the screen reaches a size of 12.4 inches with Full HD Plus resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) and a pixel density of 182 ppi. This screen feels like a premium class Android tablet with a thin and light body. At MWC 2025, this device is displayed in glass, while at Computex 2025, journalist Galuh Putri Riyanto can hold and try this cellphone directly.
This Flex G model has a silver stainless frame and a black back side with a smooth and non-textured synthetic leather material. The screen is very clear with high brightness and precise touch response.
On the Flex G device on display in Computex 2025, the leftmost screen displays content in the gallery, the middle screen displays the AI features, and the right-most screen plays YouTube Shorts content. With this scenario, the Samsung Flex G opens new usage opportunities, ranging from tablet mode, mini-laptop mode, to viewing mode for simultaneous consumption of content.
Supporting features and accessories

In addition to the Tri-Fold phone, Samsung is also planning to launch the XR headset along with the phone. Samsung’s Vice President of Mobile Experience Division, Daniel Araujo, stated that the company is preparing to introduce next-generation innovative products, including the XR headset and Tri-Fold smartphone which will be launched this year. The company even confirmed that both devices will be available and sold in the market before 2025.
