Jaecoo Electric Vehicle Prices: Smart Strategy Amidst Incentive Uncertainty

Jaecoo’s Strategy for Facing Electric Car Incentive Policy Uncertainty

Uncertainty regarding the incentive policy for pure electric cars is still a challenge for producers and consumers in Indonesia. Until now, the government has not announced a new rule that will take effect in the near future. However, if the policy is implemented and the incentives for electric vehicles (EV) are lost, then the price of electric cars can increase by around 10%.

In the midst of this situation, EV consumers still need certainty in making purchasing decisions. They don’t want to wait for a new policy to come because it can interfere with their purchase plan.

To solve this problem, Jaecoo, one of the well-known electric car brands, launched a special strategy. Since the J5 model was launched and received a positive response from the market, the company designed a lock price scheme. This scheme aims to provide price certainty to consumers from the start.

With the lock price, consumers can buy a car at a predetermined price. If the new policy is implemented and the price of the car goes up, then consumers only need to pay according to the initial agreement.

“We can’t just wait until the new regulations are implemented and have to find a way so that consumers get clear certainty,” said Head of Marketing for Jaecoo Indonesia, Ilham Pratama, when interviewed in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Sunday (08/03/2026).

According to Ilham, the current lock price scheme is charged at Rp. 10 million. This figure was chosen because it is lower than the possible price increase. For example, if the price incentive is revoked, the price of the J5 can go up to around 30 million.

However, if the decision regarding the EV incentive is maintained and the incentive is not revoked, then the additional cost for the lock price will be returned to the consumer.

This lock price program is optional. Consumers have the freedom to choose whether they want to follow the scheme or not.

In implementing the Lock Price scheme, Jaecoo has prepared two different types of additional prices:

  • First Wave: Lock Price of IDR 8 million which is valid for vehicle orders until 2025.
  • Second Wave: Lock Price of IDR 10 million which is valid for orders after the first wave.

Thus, Jaecoo provides flexible options to consumers, while providing protection against price fluctuations due to policy changes. This shows the company’s commitment to maintaining customer trust in the midst of market uncertainty.
