KOMDIGI Collaboration Startup AI Tracks Judol Funds
The government through the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is now taking strategic steps in dealing with online gambling practices. This step not only focuses on site blocking, but also targets the root of the problem, namely the flow of funds that support illegal gambling operations. To achieve this, Komdigi collaborates with local startups that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Minister of Komdigi Meutya Hafid explained that the government is currently encouraging the development of AI as one of the main pillars of national digital transformation. This vision aims to create an ethical, responsible, and able to increase the nation’s competitiveness. One example of the innovation presented is from Gambit Hunter, a startup that uses AI to identify and explore the payment infrastructure that is an important part of the practice of online gambling.
“This approach is in line with the direction of the government’s policy, which is to strengthen handling from the upstream to infrastructure, not only the content that is visible on the surface,” Meutya said in a written statement.
In addition, the ambitious Lab also contributes through its product, Ambitious News, which aims to maintain the quality of information in the digital space. AI technology from ambitious lab is used to curate, verify, and compare news from various reliable sources.
“This is an important step in strengthening a healthy information ecosystem,” added Meutya.
According to Meutya, the two innovations represent two important aspects of digital spatial management. First, strengthening security and improving the quality of information, and secondly, community digital literacy. The government continues to encourage AI development through strengthening innovation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and developing various Use case which has a direct impact on the community.
This collaboration is the government’s way of utilizing AI technology to answer urgent public problems in digital spaces. Meutya considered that the innovation was not only a technology user, but also able to create artificial intelligence-based solutions that were relevant to the needs of the nation..
Meutya hopes that the meeting with the two startups will be the beginning of a more concrete cooperation with the government. In this way, the innovation of the nation’s children can have a broad and sustainable impact on the people of Indonesia.
Previously, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) asked banks to block 33,252 accounts indicated to be involved in online gambling as of February 2026. This figure continues to increase compared to the previous month which was only 32,556 accounts.
With this new approach, the government demonstrates its commitment to face challenges in digital space holistically. Not only focusing on eliminating illegal content, but also addressing the root of the problem through technological innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration.
