Mac Studio Officially Replaces Mac Pro, Bring Apple Silicon Chip to Superior with Stable Temperature

Apple officially discontinued the production and sale of the Mac Pro on March 26, 2026, marking the end of the device’s journey that has been present since 2006. Instead, Apple designated Mac Studio as the main workstation designed to provide much higher performance thanks to the M Ultra chip (until M3 Ultra).

Mac Studio offers stronger performance, better energy efficiency, more stable temperature, and a more compact design than the old Mac Pro. This device is also positioned as the spiritual successor of the M2 Ultra-based Mac Pro, because Apple has stopped production of the old Mac Pro line and turned to focus on Mac Studio as the latest professional machine.

Here is a review of the advantages of Mac Studio over Mac Pro which is no longer produced:

1. The performance of Apple Silicon chip generation is superior

The new generation Mac Studio uses the M Ultra (M1 Ultra, M2 Ultra, and Latest M3 Ultra family chips), which are specially designed for high computing loads with highly efficient integrated CPU-GPU architecture. Benchmarks and independent testing show that even Mac Studio configurations with the M1 Ultra (20-core CPU, 64-core GPU) have surpassed the Mac Pro Intel 28-core multi-core performance in many scenarios, including video rendering and stacking code in Xcode. Apple clearly shows the strategy direction that Mac Studio is a future workstation, while the old Mac Pro is no longer getting the equivalent of Apple Silicon chip updates. With the M3 Ultra and the possibility of the next generation of M Ultra, Mac Studio will continue to get improved performance, AI features, and software optimization, while the old Mac Pro is limited to PCI hardware expansion and GPU stock that will be increasingly limited over time.

The price of MAC Studio in Indonesia is quite diverse depending on the variant and place of purchase. In general, this device is priced from IDR 35–45 million for the entry-level model, while the highest configuration can reach more than IDR 70 million. This price variation depends on the chip specifications, RAM capacity, and selected storage size. In official stores such as iBox and Digimap, MAC Studio with M3 Ultra configuration (28-core CPU, 60-core GPU, 96 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) was sold in the range of IDR 70–72 million. Meanwhile, the MAC price monitoring database in Indonesia shows that the M4 Max 36 GB/512 GB variant and other lower models are in the range of IDR 35-45 million, depending on the stock and promotion of each store. In large marketplaces such as Tokopedia, Mac Studio is available in a wide selection of chips ranging from M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M3 Ultra, to M4 Max. The price on the platform is in the range of IDR 35-40 million for the medium model, and can reach IDR 80 million for the highest variants such as the M3 Ultra with 96 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
