MacBook Neo Officially Released, Apple’s Most Affordable MacBook

Apple Inc. Officially launched the MacBook Neo as a variant of the MacBook laptop which has the most affordable price on Wednesday (4/3/2026). This device is sold at prices starting at US $ 599 or around Rp. 10 million and is intended for the segment of novice users, including students and users who need devices for daily productivity activities.
The launch of the MacBook Neo expands the choice of macOS-based devices in a cheaper pricing class. Previously, Apple laptops were known to have relatively high prices so that they were more widely used by professionals and upper-middle-level users. With the presence of this new product, Apple is trying to open up wider access to its device ecosystem.
Although present as the cheapest laptop in the MacBook line, the MacBook Neo is still equipped with a number of excellent features, ranging from the use of the A18 Pro chip to Apple’s signature aluminum design. This device is also designed with a focus on power efficiency and mobility, making it suitable for learning, work, and daily use.
MacBook Neo Specifications
Although marketed as an economical laptop, the MacBook Neo is still equipped with a number of advanced specifications that support daily computing activities. The basic configuration of this laptop includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. Apple also provides larger storage options for users who need up to 512GB of extra space.
This laptop uses the A18 Pro chip as the main processor of the device. The chip consists of a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU and is equipped with a neural engine for artificial intelligence processing. The use of this processor allows the device to run various daily computing activities quite smoothly.
Utilization of the A series chip on the MacBook Neo makes this device more power efficient even though it is used to open applications that are classified as heavy. Thus, this laptop is suitable for work activities such as document processing, zoom meetings, internet browsing, streaming, to simple video editing.
However, because it is more power efficient, the MacBook Neo is not designed for professional work for many years. If used for a heavier job such as motion graphics, this laptop can still be used, it just can’t be too long.
macbook neo design and screen
Apple still maintains the premium design on the MacBook Neo, even though this device is marketed at a more affordable price. This laptop uses an aluminum body that is light but still sturdy.
In terms of display, the MacBook Neo is equipped with a 13-inch Liquid Retina screen with a resolution of 2408 x 1506 pixels and a brightness level of up to 500 nits. These specifications allow the screen to remain clearly visible when used indoors or areas with bright lighting.
The weight of this device is about 1.2 kilograms with thin dimensions, making it easy to carry to various places. The light and portable design is one of the main characters of the MacBook line, including the MacBook Neo.
Apple also provides several interesting color choices for this laptop. MacBook Neo comes in four color variants, namely Silver, Blush, Indigo, and Citrus.
Battery life and connectivity
One of the main advantages of the MacBook Neo lies in its power efficiency. Apple claims this laptop can last up to about 16 hours for use in one battery charging.
Long battery life makes the MacBook Neo suitable for daily activities such as work, study, or joining zoom meetings without the need to recharge frequently.
In terms of connectivity, the MacBook Neo is equipped with two USB-C ports that can be used to connect accessories as well as external screens. In addition, there is also a 3.5 mm audio jack for the needs of a cable audio device. This laptop also supports modern wireless connection over the latest generation Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth.
However, the limited number of ports makes some users likely need an additional adapter if they want to connect more external devices.
Macbook Neo Pre-Order Prices and Schedules
Apple has opened pre-orders for the MacBook Neo after its official launch. The device is scheduled to be officially available on March 11, 2026.
Apple offers two variant options. The first variant has 256GB of storage and is equipped with a magic keyboard at a price of US $ 599 or around Rp. 10.1 million. While the second variant has 512GB of storage, equipped with a Magic Keyboard and Touch ID at a price of US $ 699 or around Rp. 11.8 million.
With this price, the MacBook Neo became the MacBook laptop with the cheapest price tag ever released by Apple.
