PLN new electricity installation rates for household customers

The tariff for the installation of new electricity imposed by the State Electricity Company (PLN) for household customers with a power of 2,200 VA is Rp. 2,062,000, which does not include the Street Lighting Tax (PPJ) and the Certificate of Operation Eligibility (SLO). This tariff determination refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Number 27 of 2017.

PLN’s new electricity installation costs vary depending on the electrical power and the type of service chosen by the customer. Here are some examples of electricity installation costs for prepaid and postpaid customers:

Prepaid Electricity Installation Cost Simulation

For prepaid customers with a power of 2,200 VA, the installation fee includes connection fees, Street Lighting Tax (PPJ), and Prime Tokens. Examples of simulations based on the Gambir area, Central Jakarta:

• Power: 2,200 VA
• Type: Prepaid (Token)
• Prime token: IDR 20,000
• Connection fee: IDR 2,062,000
• PPJ 2.4 percent: IDR 469
• Prime Token: IDR 19,531
• Total Estimated: IDR 2,082,000

If the customer chooses the SLO package, there will be an additional fee of IDR 135,000, so the total cost will be IDR 2,217,000.

Postpaid Electricity Installation Cost Simulation

For postpaid customers with 2,200 VA power, the installation fee includes the connection fee and service guarantee. Examples of simulations based on the Gambir area, Central Jakarta:

• Power: 2,200 VA
• Type: Postpaid
• Connection fee: IDR 2,062,000
• Service Guarantee: IDR 310,200
• Total Estimated: IDR 2,372,200

If the customer uses the SLO package, there will be an additional fee of Rp. 135,000, so the total cost will be Rp. 2,507,200.

Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Number 27 of 2017, the following is a list of PLN’s new electricity installation tariffs for various powers:

• Power 450 VA: IDR 421,000
• Power 900 VA: IDR 843,000
• Power 1,300 VA: IDR 1,218,000
• Power 2,200 VA: IDR 2,062,000
• Power 3,500 VA: IDR 3,391,500
• Above 2,200 VA to 100 KVA: IDR 969/VA
• Above 100 KVA to 200 KVA: IDR 775/VA

In addition to the connection fee, prepaid customers are also charged the purchase fee for the initial token (including PPJ) as well as the cost of the operating eligibility certificate (SLO) for home installation.

Homeowners can simulate the cost of installing electricity according to their power and region through the PLN Mobil application on the “Cost Simulation” menu.

With the adjustment of electricity installation rates, the public is expected to better understand the costs required in submitting an application for new electricity installation. It also helps in budget planning and efficient use of electrical energy.
