The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) continues to strive to expand its population document making services by presenting the Digital Population Identity Application (IKD). This application is one of the innovations realized from the instructions of President Joko Widodo, which is then regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 72 of 2022 concerning the Standards and Specifications of Hardware, Software, and Blank Electronic Identity Cards and the Implementation of Digital Population Identity.

Initially, the IKD application only provided services for digital identity card (KTP) documents. However, along with the development of technology and the needs of the community, now this application has been expanded to handle various types of other population documents.

Director of Population Administration Information Management (PIAK) of the Directorate General of Dukcapil, Handayani Ningrum explained that nine types of population documents can be made through the IKD application. This provides convenience for the community because there is no need to come to the Dukcapil office to submit documents.

Here are nine documents that can be created through the IKD application:

1. Family Card Printing Application
2. Application for Printing Biodata of Indonesian Citizens (WNI)
3. Transfer Certificate (Individual)
4. Split/broken Family Card (KK) (Individual)
5. blood group changes
6. education change
7. Making birth certificates of Indonesian citizens (biodata does not have a NIK)
8. Making birth certificates of Indonesian citizens (biodata already has a NIK)
9. Making a death certificate

After the application is approved, the output of the document will be sent via email. The public can download documents such as KK, Indonesian citizen bio, transfer certificate, birth certificate, and death certificate to print themselves.

How to Activate the IKD Application

To get access to online population document creation services, the public can download the IKD application from the Play Store or App Store. However, for new users, activation can only be done at the Dukcapil Office. Here are the activation steps:

• Download the IKD app on the Play Store or App Store
• Open the IKD application
• On the start page, click “Register”
• After that, the Terms and Policy page appears. Activate the dongle then click “Continue”
• Complete data in the form of NIK, email, and active mobile number
• Click the “Fill Data” button
• Perform face verification by clicking the “take photo” button
• Immediately visit Dukcapil and convey your intentions and goals
• Scan the QR Code at the Dukcapil Office
• If so, the code will be sent to the email
• Open the email and click the “Activation” button, enter the code and CAPTCHA for IKD
• Click “Activate”
• After the activation is complete, reopen the IKD application
• Next, click “Check Status”
• Select the “Login” menu then enter the PIN that was previously registered
