Xiaomi 17 Released March 3, Camera Equipped with LOFIC Technology
The Xiaomi 17 Series will soon be available on the Indonesian market on March 3 2026. This latest flagship smartphone is proof of strengthening strategic collaboration between the company and Leica in developing camera technology.
Xiaomi Indonesia Marketing Director, Andi Renreng, stated that this latest series reflects the company’s vision in presenting the Essential Leica Imagery experience directly to users. He emphasized that the integration of Leica’s legacy of optical expertise with Xiaomi’s mobile technology innovation is the main foundation for the development of the line.
“We believe that now is the era of mobile imagery, where technology is able to transform professional photography into a more effortless and inclusive experience,” he said in an official statement.
The latest innovation in this series is in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra variant which features a Leica Triple Camera camera system with a resolution of 200 MP. This device is equipped with Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) technology to overcome the challenges of limited dynamic range on smartphone cameras.
Technically, LOFIC is designed to increase the light holding capacity (full-well capacity) of the sensor. This technology allows details in bright (highlight) and shadow (shadow) areas to be maintained simultaneously, especially when shooting in high contrast conditions such as strong backlight. As a result, HDR photos are claimed to remain clear without losing important details.
The visual quality of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also strengthened by the 1 inch Ultra-Dynamic main lens which was redesigned through intensive collaboration with Leica. In addition, the company has embedded a Leica APO standard 75–100mm Continuous Optical Zoom mechanism. This system maintains image sharpness and minimizes distortion, even up to a 400mm equivalent focal length or 17.2 times magnification.
For the regular variant of the Xiaomi 17, this device is positioned as a compact imagery flagship. The design is more compact without sacrificing photographic performance, making it suitable for users with high mobility.
In the camera sector, the Xiaomi 17 is equipped with a triple camera system consisting of a 50 MP main camera, 50 MP telephoto and 50 MP ultra-wide. All lenses were developed with Leica and use Summilux lenses which are known for their optical clarity and color accuracy.
This combination, combined with the upgraded Light Fusion 950 sensor, produces a dynamic range of up to 13.5 EV. A 50 MP front camera with autofocus feature is also included to support selfie and vlogging needs.
The entire Xiaomi 17 Series line is also strengthened by the AI Creativity Assistant feature and the Xiaomi HyperConnect ecosystem to ensure users’ creative workflow remains integrated and seamless across various devices.
