Many Android cellphone users often complain about memory filling up quickly. In fact, one of the main causes actually comes from applications that are rarely paid attention to. Starting from factory-installed bloatware, duplicate applications, to old games that you no longer play, everything can take up storage space without you realizing it.

Pre-Installed Bloatware Applications

One of the things that Android users often complain about is the existence of bloatware, namely factory-installed applications that are automatically installed. Some are useful, such as additional camera applications or security tools, but it’s not uncommon for some to never be used at all.

Each Android interface (skin) has a different amount of bloatware. For example, OxygenOS (OnePlus) and Pixel UI (Google) are known to be lighter, while One UI (Samsung) or MIUI (Xiaomi) tend to load more native apps.

For example, some Xiaomi cellphones often come with weather applications or additional application stores besides the Google Play Store. If you never use it, it’s better to delete or deactivate it so it doesn’t take up space and RAM.

Performance Enhancing Applications

Applications such as RAM cleaner, battery saver, or game booster are often promised to make your cellphone faster. In fact, this application often causes performance to decrease. For example, when the RAM cleaner closes background applications, the Android system will automatically reopen them because they are considered important. As a result, the battery is wasted and the application loading time is even longer.

For example, popular RAM cleaning applications such as “Clean Master” used to be widely downloaded, but were ultimately deemed ineffective and could even display annoying advertisements. Modern Android actually has a much smarter built-in RAM and battery management system, so additional applications like this should be removed.

Duplicate Applications with the Same Function

It’s not uncommon for Android phones to have more than one application with similar functions. For example, there is Google Chrome and the manufacturer’s default browser which are both for surfing the internet. Or the Google Keep application paired with the default notes application.

If you rarely use both or make things confusing, you should choose the one that is more comfortable to use. For example, many people prefer Chrome because synchronization with a Google account is smoother, so the default browser can be removed. The same thing applies to instant messaging apps or data backups: if one app is reliable enough, there’s no reason to keep another.

Game applications that haven’t been played for a long time

Games usually take up a lot of storage space, especially those that are more than 1 GB in size and are still regularly updated. If you’ve never played it, it’s best to delete it immediately. For example, popular games like PUBG Mobile or Genshin Impact can use up tens of gigabytes of memory.

Deleting old, unplayed games frees up new space for more important things, whether it’s work apps, photos, videos, or a new game you really want to try. Apart from that, the system is also lighter because it doesn’t need to constantly scan for unused game update files.

Deprecated Apps

Many users often install certain applications because they follow trends, but over time they forget or no longer use them. For example, a meditation app, sports app, or language learning app that hasn’t been opened for months.

These apps will only take up storage space and may remain running in the background. Deleting it will make the cellphone more spacious, the battery more efficient, and the performance more stable. If one day you need it again, the application can be easily reinstalled from the Play Store.
