Mozilla introduced a new version of the privacy monitoring service with a paid subscription called Mozilla Monitor Plus. At a cost of $8.99 per month as part of an annual subscription, the service will automatically monitor more than 190 brokerage sites selling information collected from online sources such as social networks, apps, and trackers. If the information is found, the Service will generate a request to delete the collected personal data.

Tony Cinotto, Mozilla Monitor’s product manager, said Mozilla partnered with Onerep to carry out this scan and the appropriate removal request. Requests usually take 7 to 14 days to process, but sometimes automatic deletion of information may not be possible. Mozilla will continue to improve its services and will also provide instructions to Mozilla Monitor Plus customers for its own elimination.

The new paid subscription, Mozilla Monitor Plus, builds on the monitoring of the free Dark Web Mozilla Monitor (formerly Firefox Monitor), a service that was first introduced by Mozilla in 2018. According to Mozilla, users of the free version of Basic Monitor can continue to receive scans Free on-demand data brokers, continuous monthly automatic scanning, and one-time deletion requests.

Mozilla states that when users perform scans at internet data brokers, they can find a large amount of personal information, ranging from names, home addresses, and professional backgrounds to criminal records of children, hobbies, or educational institutions.
