IPA Answer Key for Class 7 Pages 42-43: Name of Laboratory Equipment

IPA answer key for grade 7 junior high school pages 42-43 independent curriculum

In the first chapter of the book Natural Sciences (IPA) for class VII SMP, students are faced with various questions that test their understanding of laboratory equipment. One of the questions that appears is “BAB REVIEW” number 3, which asks students to identify the names of laboratory equipment based on pictures and explain the materials and their uses in full.

This question aims to increase students’ understanding of the equipment used in science practicum. By knowing the function and material of making the tool, students can better understand how to use it correctly and safely.

The following is an explanation of some of the laboratory equipment that is often used in practicum:

1. Beaker

Tool name: beaker

Material: made of borosilicate glass or plastic.

Uses: Used as a container to react, mix, heat, and measure the volume of the solution.

2. Test tube

Tool name: test tube

Material: made of glass or plastic.

Uses: Its function is as a container to mix, heat, react, or accommodate chemicals and microorganisms.

3. Porcelain cup

Tool name: porcelain cup

Material: Made of high quality porcelain or ceramic which is resistant to high temperatures and chemical reactions.

Uses: Used to evaporate liquids in certain mixtures.

4. Measuring cup

Tool name: measuring cup

Material: usually made of borosilicate glass or plastic such as polypropylene.

Uses: Serves to measure the volume of fluid needed when doing practicum.

5. Funnel

Tool name: funnel

Material: Can be made of glass, plastic, or porcelain, depending on the type.

Uses: Used to move liquids or fine materials to other containers, especially those with narrow mouths, so they don’t spill and the results are more precise.

6. Erlenmeyer flask

Tool Name: Erlenmeyer Pumpkin

Material: made of borosilicate glass or plastic such as polypropylene and polycarbonate.

Uses: used to mix, heat, measure the volume of the solution, and perform titration.

7. Thermometer

Tool name: thermometer

Material: Consists of glass tube and mercury or alcohol filling.

Uses: Its main function is to measure temperature.

8. Three legs

Tool Name: Three Legs

Material: Made of iron or steel.

Uses: Used as a buffer for glassware during the heating process.

By understanding each laboratory equipment, students will be better prepared in conducting experiments and practicums. In addition, they can also avoid using potentially harmful tools.

Students are expected to try to work on the questions independently before looking at the answer key. This is important to improve critical thinking skills and deeper understanding.

Each question has a different answer, because it is open. Therefore, students are encouraged to understand the basic concepts of laboratory equipment and apply them according to the given situation.
