Is telekinesis real? This is a scientific answer!

What is telekinesis?
Telekinesis, or the power to move objects only through the mind, is often considered a super ability that only exists in superhero films. However, is telekinesis really real? Let’s explore more deeply.
The word “telekiesis” comes from the ancient Greek. The word “tele” means far, while “kinetic” means movement. In general, telekinesis is defined as the ability of a person to move objects without touch and only use the mind.
Some people think telekinesis is similar to psychokinesis. However, there are fundamental differences between the two. Psychokinesis requires the presence of other people to move objects, while telekinesis only requires one’s own mind.
History of Telekinesis

The history of telekinesis can be traced to the distant past. In the puppet story, characters like Shakuni from the Mahabarata epic are known to use similar abilities to manipulate objects according to their wishes. This event is thought to have occurred in 400 BC.
At the end of the 19th century, the term telekinesis began to be used by a psychic researcher from Russia named Alexander N. Aksakov. He was inspired by the works of Emanuel Swedenborg, a Swedish scientist who is interested in the phenomenon of the medium (people who can communicate with spirits).
In the late 1860s, Aksakov held the first Séance in Russia. One of the well-known mediums is Desperance (the birth name of Elizabeth Hope), who is known to have the ability of telekinesis. Although many of his claims have proven to be fake, telekinesis remains an interesting topic for many people.
Is Telekinesis Really Real?

Does telekinesis really exist? Based on history, many claims of telekinesis have proven to be fraudulent. According to a report from the Center of Excellence, until now there has been no concrete study that proves the existence of telekinesis scientifically.
However, some people still believe that telekinesis is real. Their personal experience is often considered as evidence. For example, Nina Kulagina, a Russian woman who claimed to be able to do telekinesis, once showed her abilities in front of scientists and government officials.
scientific explanation of telekinesis

If telekinesis really exists, how can objects move untouched? From a scientific point of view, there are several explanations:
- Ideomotor effect: Psychological abilities that make a person move objects unconsciously. They believe themselves to move objects with the mind, when in fact the action is carried out without consciousness.
- placebo effect: psychological suggestion that makes a person feel like he has moved objects without touch. In fact, objects move only because of their beliefs and perceptions.
- Sensorimotor illusion: a condition in which the brain misreceived information from the senses, so that the object is moving even though there is no physical intervention.
Telekinesis is still considered a pseudo ability that has not been proven true. For some people, telekinesis is a real thing. However, from a scientific perspective, telekinesis is still a mystery that has not been fully solved.
