Indonesian people now have new options for wireless internet services thanks to the presence of WiFi Internet Rakyat. This service attracts attention because it is claimed to be able to provide speeds of up to 100 Mbps at an affordable price.

This People’s Internet Program is run by PT Telemedia Communications Pratama, a company under the auspices of PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (Surge/WIFI). This company utilizes the latest network technology to provide these services.

Rakyat Surge Internet WiFi carries the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) concept and uses an Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) architecture at a frequency of 1.4 GHz. With this technology, services can provide 5G internet without dependence on optical cables like conventional WiFi services.

Currently, pre-registration for the Rakyat Internet WiFi service is open. Prospective users who are interested can register directly via the official website provided by the organizer.

How to Register for People’s Internet WiFi

Here are the steps to register:

• Visit the registration link and select the Pre-registration option.
• Fill in personal data, including:
• Full name
• Email address
• Active WhatsApp number (OTP code will be sent for verification)
• Fill in address data, including:
• City, province, sub-district and village of domicile
• Determine the location of domicile on the map
• Enter complete address
• Once done, your data will be verified and the Surge team will contact you to activate the service.

People’s Internet WiFi Prices and Packages

According to the official Telemedia website, the latest package for this service is IDR 100,000 for 30 days with a speed of 100 Mbps. Previously three packages were available: 7 days (Rp. 29,000), 14 days (Rp. 49,000), and 30 days (Rp. 79,000). Currently, only 30-day packages are available with adjusted pricing.

Technology Cooperation

This service is hosted by Surge in collaboration with Orex SAI, a joint venture between NTT Docomo and NEC Corporation. Orex SAI provides an end-to-end Open RAN FWA 1.4 GHz solution, including 5G Core (5GC) technology from NEC. Meanwhile, Surge is responsible for distributing services through its subsidiary, PT Telemediakomunikasi Pratama, with support from 26 local distributors in Region I (Java-Bali).
