New Terror SMS Blaster: Bank Funds Run Out in Minutes, Beware of Fake Links!

Arrest of two Thai men with SMS blaster mode

Thai police managed to arrest two men aged 23 and 25 after uncovering illegal telecommunications equipment hidden in a car. This device is used in a crime mode known as SMS Blaster. This incident is of great concern to the public and the security forces because the fraudulent method used is very sophisticated and effective.

The devices found consisted of several important components, such as fake base stations, routers, power units, and shark fin antennas mounted on the roof of the car. This antenna is in charge of disguising the signal hardware so that it is not easily detected. By using this device, the perpetrators can disguise themselves as a trusted network, so that the messages sent look like they come from banks or government agencies.

The SMS Blaster mode works by imitating a cell phone tower. This allows fraudsters to send messages to all devices within a certain radius. For example, these messages can reach people who are walking on busy streets. This method is very effective because the target does not realize that the message comes from an unauthorized source.

According to police reports, the two suspects admitted that they were hired by a “boss” from China. The arrest was made on Friday, August 15, 2025, and became the second case handled by police in Bangkok that month. Previously, in early August, two other Thai men were also detained for driving a car with a similar configuration.

Local media reported that the perpetrators were driving cars through the busiest districts in Bangkok. They send thousands of text messages containing links to fake websites. These sites are specifically designed to steal banking login information and one-time passcode. As a result, the accounts of the victims were drained in just a matter of minutes.

Authorities immediately conducted an investigation after many residents in the Thai capital complained about the incident. With the help of local telecommunications operators, they managed to track down the fake messages until they found the perpetrator’s car. When the search was carried out, the perpetrators said that fake messages, including fake banking and telecommunications notifications, were still circulating.

Technology used in SMS Blaster

Here are some of the main components used in SMS Blaster crime:

  • Fake base station: Allows scammers to disguise themselves as an official mobile network.
  • Router: Used to set data flow and send messages to the target device.
  • power unit: Provides energy to run the device continuously.
  • Shark fin antenna: Installed on the roof of the car to increase the signal range and hide the hardware.

impacts and actions taken

This crime raises great concerns about the security of personal data and public finances. Many victims felt shocked and lost money in a short time. To address this issue, local authorities work closely with telecommunications operators to track and identify the source of the crime.

In addition, the public is also asked to be more aware of suspicious messages. They are advised not to click on unknown links and always verify the source of information before providing personal data.

With this arrest, it is hoped that it can provide a deterrent effect to criminals and reduce similar risks in the future.
