Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite is faster than Apple M3
On the visit of journalists from Digital Trends to Qualcomm’s office, it is known that their latest processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, which is designed specifically for Windows laptops, is claimed to have a speed of 21% higher than the Apple M3 processor. The battle between Snapdragon X Elite and Apple M3
When the Snapdragon X Elite was announced in October, Qualcomm compared their 64-bit 12-core chip to the Apple M2 processor. At that time, Qualcomm stated that the peak performance of the Snapdragon X Elite was on par with its competitors, but power consumption was lower by up to 30%.
However, about a week after the announcement of the Snapdragon X Elite, Apple introduced their newest processor series, the M3. Qualcomm did not remain silent and again tested, this time comparing their chips with the latest M3 processor from Apple. According to Qualcomm, their processor excels in single-threaded performance, although the Digital Trends record does not provide details on how much difference it is. Meanwhile, Qualcomm also stated that the multi-threaded Snapdragon X Elite performance was 21% higher than the M3 processor.
Independent Test Challenging Qualcomm Claims
Although this claim is tempting, independent tests will later reveal the extent to which the statement is true. Qualcomm notes that the results may differ due to differences in the software used by both. Sascha is reluctant, Qualcomm’s senior PR manager, explained to Digital Trends that this difference will be visible because Apple uses macOS while Qualcomm uses Windows. Snapdragon X Elite vs. Intel Core
In October, Qualcomm called the Oryon-based Snapdragon X Elite the fastest x86 chip on the market. They present performance data compared to 13th generation Intel Core processors.
