Microsoft recently announced an update to the Windows 11 operating system that brings a new feature called Copilot Action. This feature offers a more innovative and efficient user experience, especially in terms of voice control and interaction with the device.

What is Copilot Action?

Copilot Action is an artificial intelligence agent (AI) designed to make it easier for desktop or laptop PC users to control the system without having to touch the screen. With this feature, users can talk directly to devices running Windows 11 OS to run certain tasks. The task may include interaction with applications, files, or web-based services.

For example, AI copilot action can write and send email replies automatically, even setting folders in the background when prompted by the user. This process will be displayed through the Copilot application, and the AI will also ask the user for confirmation if needed.

How to Access AI Copilot Action

To access this AI agent, users can simply open the Copilot application and select the Copilot Action menu. In addition, users can also run it by saying, “Hey Copilot” without the need for manual access as before.

However, before running the AI Copilot Action, the user must first activate the feature. The reason is that Windows 11’s default settings are set to disable Copilot Action. If you have got this feature, users can activate it via:

• Experimental agent features

If you don’t find this feature, it means that the user has not had access to this AI agent.

When will this update be released?

The update that includes Copilot Action for Windows 11 will be launched for Windows users in Copilot Labs in the near future. Although Microsoft did not specify the specific schedule, Copilot Action will be available in an experimental version for further development and improvement after receiving feedback from users.

Microsoft’s goal in presenting AI

This AI agent support is part of Microsoft’s efforts to enrich Windows 11 OS. This is increasingly important considering Windows 10 has retired on October 14, 2025.

Yusef Mehdi, Microsoft’s Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, explained that the company’s vision is to rewrite the entire operating system around AI and build what basically makes PC AI real. According to him, even though the Copilot Plus PC is the spearhead and gets a quick appeal, the most important thing is to give AI capabilities to all Windows 11 PCs and make it very easy for anyone to try.
