Coordinating Minister Yusril launches the newest AI manufacturing company in Batam
Lidahtekno, Batam – Coordinating Minister for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, officially inaugurated the opening of an AI-based electronic manufacturing company in the Muka Kuning Industrial Estate, Batam, Riau Islands, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Yusril emphasized the importance of legal clarity in supporting industrial growth in Indonesia.
Central Government Representative
Although Yusril’s presence was questioned in relation to the company’s official launch, he emphasized that he was present as a representative of the central government.
“My presence here actually acts as a representative of the government to verify various legal elements related to the principles of policy and legal provisions that are very essential in supporting the economy in the current era of Prabowo Subianto’s administration,” Yusril said in a press conference after the event.
Inauguration of PT Pegaunihan Teknologi Indonesia
The inauguration ceremony of PT Pegaunihan Teknologi Indonesia was carried out symbolically through the cutting of the ribbon and the signing of the inscription by Yusril. He also said that the Indonesian government continues to provide legal guarantees to industry players, especially in strategic areas such as Batam.
“The ministry really appreciates the steps taken by Pegatron who has established PT Pegaunihan in Batam and thanked them for choosing Batam as the location for their business operations,” Yusril continued.
Pegatron’s investment and focus
PT Pegaunihan Elektronik Indonesia is part of the Pegatron Group from Taiwan. The company is engaged in manufacturing electronic products such as modems, PC cases, and electronic chips for the export market.
President & Pegatron CEO, Gary Cheng, expressed his pride when inaugurating the new facility.
“As soon as we arrive, we can see great potential, high spirits, and strong commitment from the people here,” said Cheng. He also emphasized that this investment is not only in the form of physical development, but also involves the development of manpower and skills.
AI and 5G technology in production line
This facility has been equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and a 5G network in collaboration with Telkomsel. This technology enables high automation and sensor integration in production Real-time, making Batam a pioneer in the implementation of smart manufacturing (Smart Manufacturing).
“This location will be the center of advanced connectivity and business intelligence, a testament to the potential that can be achieved if we dream big and join together,” said Cheng.
Strategic collaboration with Telkomsel
Wong Soon Nam, Director of Planning & Transformation from Telkomsel, added that this collaboration is part of the acceleration strategy for digital transformation of the manufacturing industry in Indonesia.
“With a 5G private network specially designed by us, PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia can improve work efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness in intelligent manufacturing in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0,” explained Wong.

The Head of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry, Setia Diarta, expressed his appreciation for the real steps of Pegatron and Telkomsel in introducing the latest technology for sustainable industrial changes.
“The government will continue to support such cooperation so that all parts of the industry, including the manufacturing sector, can use the latest technology to the maximum to achieve equitable and sustainable development,” he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry, the manufacturing sector contributed 18.98 percent of the national gross domestic product (GDP) by 2024. The government continues to push for an industrial downstream scheme that focuses on increasing added value and the use of technology as the main driver.
