Does using a kick starter in the morning extend the life of the battery?

Use of Kick Starter and Its Effect on Battery
Technically, it’s true that the use of a kick starter can help reduce the battery load. When the electric starter button is pressed, the battery must flow large current to the starter dynamo. If the condition of the battery has started to weaken, this burden can accelerate the decrease in capacity. With a kick starter, the power of the rider’s legs that rotates the engine, so that the battery is only used for small needs such as ignition and injection systems. Therefore, the use of a kick starter does save battery energy a little, especially on the first start in the morning.
However, this savings did not have a major impact on the age of the battery. Generally, motorcycle batteries, both wet and dry types, only last about two to three years. After going through this service life, its performance will still decline even though it is often assisted by a kick starter.
The main factors that determine the age of the battery
What really determines the age of the battery is not how often the kick starter is used, but another, more basic factor. The quality of the battery is the main determinant, because the battery with better materials and technology is certainly more durable. The condition of the charging system or charging system is also very influential.
If the spool, kiprok, and cable work normally, the battery will always be fully charged and able to last a long time. On the other hand, if there is damage to one of the charging components, the battery can be quickly soaked even though the motor is diligently turned on manually.
Daily care habits are no less important. Leaving the motor out of use for too long will make the battery lose power even if it is not used. On the other hand, regularly heating the motor for at least five to ten minutes every day will help keep the battery charging level stable.
More effective treatment than Kick Starter
If the main goal is to extend the life of the battery, there are other habits that are more effective than relying on just a kick starter. Turning off additional electronic devices such as additional lights or audio when the engine is off can prevent the battery from draining quickly. The battery cable and terminal must also always be in a tight condition so that the electric current does not leak. For wet battery users, periodic checking and adding battery water is very important.
With consistent care habits, the age of the battery can last as expected, even longer than the average. Kick starter can help, but the role is only small. The overall health of the charging system and the pattern of motor usage is much more decisive. So, if you want the battery to stay durable, combine the use of a kick starter with routine maintenance and the right driving habits.
