Google logo change and ChromeOS integration with Android
Google, a well-known technology company, has just announced a change in the logo design that will be used in various companies’ services. This new logo features the letter “G” with bright colors such as red, yellow, green, and blue. This update has been made after more than ten years since the last logo was introduced in 2015.
This new logo first appeared on Google’s search service in May 2025. However, Google recently officially announced the launch of the logo and expanded its use to various other services, including the Android and Gemini applications. Although the basic shape of the logo remains the same, Google provides a new touch with a smoother gradation effect between colors. This change makes the dividing line between the colors softer than the previous version.
This design update is called by Google as a representation of how users interact with the various platforms they are developing. According to the company, the new logo reflects new ways people interact with Google products on various devices and apps. In addition, Google also stated that this new logo represents the evolution of the company in the AI era.
In the coming months, Google will start applying this new logo to various company products and services. This process will be carried out in stages so that users can adapt to the changes that occur.
Merging ChromeOS and Android
In addition to changing the logo, Google has also designed another grand plan, which is combining the ChromeOS operating system with Android. This plan will start next year, which means that the Chromebook laptop that has been running with ChromeOS will have the same technology foundation as Android.
Rick Osterloh, Google’s Senior Vice President Devices and Services, explained this step at the Snapdragon Summit 2025. He stated that previously, the system developed for PCs was different from the system on the smartphone (Android). Now, Google is combining the two, thus bringing the Gemini model, AI assistant, as well as Android apps and developer communities to the PC ecosystem.
Sameer Samat, the head of Android at Google, added that this is a new era where AI can work seamlessly on various devices, both mobile and computer. Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, also stated that he was very impressed with the early versions of this combined system. He said that this really embodies the vision of mobile and PC convergence.
Advantages for users and developers
Merging ChromeOS with Android doesn’t mean ChromeOS will be completely lost. Google confirms that the Chromebook experience will still exist, it’s just that the basic engine changes to using Android. Thus, the simple ChromeOS interface can still be enjoyed, but behind the scenes, this system shares the same foundation as Android.
Users will experience a more consistent and integrated experience. For example, AI applications and services that were previously only available on Android phones can now run smoothly on the Chromebook. From editing documents with the help of Gemini to more intelligent synchronization between phones and laptops.
For developers, an integrated platform opens up opportunities to make applications once run across devices without the need for much modification. This will simplify the development process and improve the quality of applications available on various devices.
