Poco X8 Pro Unveiled on 17 March with MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra and 9500s

Just a short time after the launch of the Xiaomi 17 series, Xiaomi Malaysia has announced the upcoming release of new smartphones under its budget-friendly Poco brand. This marks another step in the company’s strategy to offer high-performance devices at competitive prices.
The Poco X8 Pro series is expected to include two models: the X8 Pro and the X8 Pro Max. These devices are set to launch next week, just after the Oppo Find N6 event. They are positioned as mid-range smartphones aimed at succeeding the current Poco X7 Pro lineup. As with previous launches, pre-orders will likely be available shortly after the event, along with special early bird pricing for customers who place their orders early.
The official launch of the Poco X8 Pro series is scheduled for 8pm on Tuesday, 17th March 2026. This date has been widely anticipated by tech enthusiasts and potential buyers looking for an affordable yet powerful smartphone option.
What to Expect from the Poco X8 Pro Series?
Despite being classified as mid-range devices, the Poco X8 Pro series is expected to feature next-generation performance chipsets. The devices are rumored to come equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra and the Dimensity 9500s, which will make their global debut on these models. These chipsets are known for their advanced processing capabilities and energy efficiency, making them ideal for demanding tasks such as gaming and multimedia consumption.
On the surface, the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max appear to be rebadged versions of the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which are sold in China. Based on the Chinese specifications, the Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display and a 7,560mAh battery. The Turbo 5 Max, on the other hand, comes with a larger 6.83-inch Full HD+ display and an impressive 9,000mAh battery.
The rest of the specifications between the two Redmi Turbo 5 models are quite similar. Both devices are equipped with a dual-camera setup that includes a 50MP main camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a secondary 8MP ultra-wide angle lens. Additionally, they both have a 20MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies.
Other notable features include stereo speakers, IP68/IP69K-rated dust and water resistance, 100W fast wired charging, and 27W reverse wired charging. These features ensure a premium user experience, even at a mid-range price point.
Of course, there may be some hardware adjustments for the global market, including a slightly smaller battery to meet local regulations and consumer preferences. However, the full details of the Poco X8 Pro series will be officially revealed next week during the launch event.
