Strategic Cooperation in EVTOL Development in China
The low-distance aviation industry (EVTOL) in China continues to grow rapidly, with various companies working together to accelerate innovation and technology development. One example is the strategic cooperation between Zhongxin Aviation and Guangdong Gouyu Technology. The two companies have announced plans to deepen their collaboration in the development of power supply products for electric air vehicles.
Previously, Zhongxin Aviation had provided the industry’s highest energy density battery for the GAC Gouyu Aircab flying car. Now, the two are jointly committed to developing and standardizing the power supply products used in EVTOL. Thus, they hope to increase efficiency and safety in the use of electric air vehicles.
In June, the GAC Govy Aircab, which was powered by a special battery from Zhongxin Aviation, was officially launched and immediately received thousands of orders. In fact, the prototype of the car was shipped in July. The battery used has a high nickel/silicon series-9 system specifically designed for flight. This technology offers a combination of high energy density (more than 300 Wh/kg) and exceptional safety.
The second generation of the battery, which is a large semi-solid cylinder type, even has an energy density of up to 350 Wh/kg and is able to support 6C fast charging. This makes it one of the best solutions in the development of EVTOL.
GAC Govy Aircab is currently in the airworthiness certification stage, with a target certification and mass production in the second half of 2026. This projection shows that 2027 will be the first year for low-range manned flights. The price of this flying car is estimated to be no more than 1.68 million yuan (approximately Rp. 3.5 billion), making it a relatively affordable transportation alternative.
This flying car body is made of lightweight and strong carbon fiber composites, with a material utilization rate of up to 90%. With this design, the weight of the vehicle has been reduced to 30%. Govy AirCab is designed for tourism and cultural activities of low distance, making it suitable for use in various situations.
This car has a two-seater configuration, gull-wing doors, and fast charging capabilities in 25 minutes (from 50% to 100% in just 15 minutes). In addition, this car is equipped with 5G connectivity, intelligent assistant, and fragrance features to increase user comfort.
For safety, the Govy Aircab is equipped with an over-the-top flight control and navigation system, full system monitoring, and cloud-based self-diagnosis. With a level 4 intelligent driving ability, this car has a computing power exceeding 500 tops per second, and a maximum detection range of more than 300 meters. This makes it one of the most sophisticated and safe electric air vehicles.
