Honda motorcycles are cool, but what are the drawbacks?
Honda’s newest technical director, Romano Albesiano, revealed a number of shortcomings that Honda racing motorcycles still have, although the team’s performance has increased significantly at the beginning of the 2025 season.
Honda’s Performance Starts to Rise
Honda opened the 2025 season with a striking appearance thanks to a number of new motorcycles. After previously difficulty and often finishing in the back position, now Honda is starting to be competitive and able to penetrate big ten.
In the race at Thailand, Honda racer Johann Zarco managed to finish in position seventh. This is proof that Honda has made a big leap in performance.
the motor is good, but there are still shortcomings
In an interview with Sky Italy while in Cota, America, Albesiano explained that actually Honda motorcycles were good enough from the start, but they still had shortcomings that they were fixing.
“Basically, this is a good motorcycle, there are only a few shortcomings,” said Albesiano.
“We are currently resetting the system to achieve the best performance of the package.”
Adaptation in a new environment
Albesiano, who previously worked for Aprilia, also discussed his new role at Honda.
“Comfort is here. This is a very different environment compared to Aprilia,” he said.
He added that working at Honda made him have to socialize with development centers in various parts of the world, and there were strong desire to create new innovations.
The machine is a weak point
One aspect that according to Albesiano still needs to be improved is machine.
“The engine is the weakest part at the moment. If we have a higher maximum speed, then the racer will experience a much easier racing experience,” he explained.
Signs of Honda’s revival
Although there is still homework, Honda’s improved performance and an open evaluation of the technical team is a strong signal that the Japanese manufacturer is serious about the mission comeback in MotoGP.
Honda seems determined to return to being dominant team, compete in the front row, and no longer lag behind his rivals.
