Choice of Electric Cars in the Indonesian Market

Battery-based electric cars (BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE/BEV) are now increasingly in demand by the people of Indonesia, with a wide selection of models that come at affordable prices. One of the electric car manufacturers from China, BYD Indonesia, has launched its newest model, BYD ATTO 1, at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show or GIIAS 2025 last July. Meanwhile, another automotive brand, Wuling Motors has also released an electricity-based hatchback model, namely the Wuling Binguo EV.

The price of the BYD ATTO 1 starts from Rp. 195 million for the Dynamic variant, while the premium type is valued at Rp. 235 million OTR Jakarta. On the other hand, Wuling Motors also offers their new model, the New Wuling Binguo EV Lite and Pro variants. The price of the New Wuling Binguo EV Lite variant is priced at around Rp. 279 million, while the Pro variant is priced at Rp. 317 million.

BYD ATTO 1 Specifications

BYD ATTO 1 has some eye-catching specifications. The Dynamic variant can cover a distance of up to 300 kilometers, while the premium variant can reach a distance of 380 kilometers with NEDC testing. In terms of performance, the BYD ATTO 1 is claimed to be capable of producing 55 kW of power and a maximum torque of 135 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 50 km per hour only takes 4.9 seconds.

Dimensionally, the BYD ATTO 1 has a length of 3,925 mm, a width of 1,720 mm, and a height of 1,590 mm. This car is equipped with a strong body structure and 6 airbags in the premium variant to provide maximum protection for the driver.

In the interior, the BYD ATTO 1 is equipped with a 10.1-inch touch screen that can connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, there is a rear parking camera feature with 3 parking sensors and cruise control. This model is known as BYD Seagull in the global market, but the name is adapted to BYD’s global strategy and the Indonesian market.

Wuling Binguo EV Specifications

Wuling Binguo EV has a spacious and functional interior. There are differences between the two variants, namely Lite and Pro. New Binguo EV Pro uses caramel latte interior shades, leather upholstery with leather steering wheel, and electric driver seat arrangement. Meanwhile, the New Binguo EV Lite has a mocha latte interior color with upholstery made of fabric and steering wheel polyurethane, as well as manual front seat arrangement.

Both of these variants still have a soft touch interior trim with 15 storage areas and a 790 liter luggage capacity when the second row seats are folded. Dimensionally, the New Binguo EV has a length of 3,950 mm, a width of 1,708 mm, and a height of 1,580 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm.

The New Binguo EV is powered by a 50 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 150 Nm, and an LFP battery with a capacity of 31.9 kWh. The New Binguo EV’s mileage reaches 333 kilometers in one full charge. The vehicle also has a fast charging option, which is claimed to be able to charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes.

From the sides of the legs, the two variants of the New Binguo EV wear tires measuring 185/60 R15 with 15-inch wheels.
