Local Assembly, Jaecoo J5 EV Ready to Order?
The Jaecoo J5 EV electric car has been officially marketed in Indonesia with a scheme Completely Knocked Down (ckd). Although the current stock of the car is available, the company is worried that the pivot will occur in the future.
President Director of Chery Group Indonesia, Zheng Shuo explained that even though the stock has been prepared, the amount is not enough to meet market demand. “We have prepared stock because all vehicles are assembled in Indonesia, isn’t it? Completely built up (CBU). The time is longer for production, it is not as easy as CBU delivery,” he said when interviewed in Jakarta, Monday (11/3/2025).
However, he ensures that the company will immediately adjust its production capabilities in order to accommodate consumer demand. Thus, consumers do not have to wait too long.
“But we will Adjust fast. If we see there Demand From the market, we will definitely try to give cars to consumers as soon as possible. We also don’t expect long-term pivot consumers,” he added.
Currently, the pivot for the Jaecoo J5 EV is in effect, although the length of the waiting time is not known with certainty. “Now it’s (indent). For the time it depends on how many SPK (vehicle ordering letter) will be available,” he explained.
The process of sending the Jaecoo J5 EV to consumers will start in November 2025, especially for those who place orders during the period Pre-Booking.
Jaecoo J5 EV at a Glance
Jaecoo J5 EV is present in the segment Compact SUV with a fairly slim size. This car has a length of 4,380 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, and a height of 1,650 mm. Thus, it is still fairly compact to become a daily vehicle for urban mobility.
In terms of specifications, the Jaecoo J5 EV is powered by a battery with a capacity of 60.9 kWh with a maximum range of 461 kilometers (NEDC) in one charging. The electrical energy from the battery is channeled to an electric motor that has a power of 155 hp and a peak torque of 288 Nm.
Prices and Variants
The Jaecoo J5 EV is offered in two variants, namely Standard and Premium. The standard variant is priced at IDR 249.9 million and the premium variant is sold at IDR 299.9 million On the road (OTR) Jakarta. The price is only available for the first 1,000 consumers.
