It is known, the Toyota EV hybrid is based on a gasoline engine as a hybrid battery charger and helps with power needs in special situations such as uphill, overtaking and cruising on toll roads.

This means that this car still requires treatment in the style of a gasoline car in general, such as heating or starting the engine if the car is not driven for a long time. “If left for a certain time, the car should still be started periodically by activating the ready mode so that the hybrid system works and the condition of the battery and the electrical system is maintained,” explained Nur Imansyah Tara, Marketing Division Head Auto2000 from the official broadcast, (13/3/26).

“In addition, Autofamily is also recommended to check the indicator lights on the instrument panel to ensure there are no warnings on the vehicle system,” he explained. Actually modern machines do not require heating the engine before running because it throws fuel and produces exhaust gas. However, if the car is often left at home, it is better if the autofamily heats the engine so that the small battery or auxiliary battery does not run out of power, aka overdrawn. Here are the steps to take:

• Heat the machine for a while
  
  The latest car is only heated for a while, about 1-2 minutes in preparation. At the same time, check the tire pressure and the instrument panel for possible problems. For a car that is left for a long time, heat the engine for 10-15 minutes with an interval of about 3 days to charge the small battery and make the oil and other liquids circulate. It would be better if the car was running for a while.

• No need to step on the gas pedal
  
  The habit of stepping on the gas pedal directly after the engine starts can make the oil not have time to flow perfectly to all components. As a result, friction becomes higher and can accelerate the wear. In addition, the mixture of air and fuel is not perfect so that it is wasteful and high emissions.

• Ensure adequate ventilation
  
  The exhaust gases that come out can accumulate and endanger the health of the occupants of the house. Especially because CO gas is formless and has no trace of odor. The incidence of carbon monoxide gas poisoning is fast and deadly.

• Check the indicators on the instrument panel
  
  The indicator panel is important to tell the condition of the engine when it is newly started. If there is a warning sign, you can immediately know and take action. If it feels dangerous such as an oil or brake pressure indicator on, immediately take the car to an authorized Toyota repair shop for checking.

“In Toyota’s hybrid cars, once the autofamily presses the start button, the gasoline engine doesn’t necessarily start immediately because it depends on the hybrid battery capacity,” said Sapta Nugraha, Head of the Auto2000 Cilandak Workshop from its official broadcast, (13/3/26). “Even if the machine can operate, it will turn off immediately if the battery capacity is full. Even though it still takes longer to heat it up,” he continued. Therefore, said Sata, make sure Autofamily already knows how to start the engine manually.

Autofamily must set the car so that it is in the maintenance mode position so that the hybrid engine can be turned on manually. This mode is often used by Auto2000 workshop technicians when performing Toyota EV hybrid maintenance. The steps taken are as follows:

1. Position the transmission lever in P, then without stepping on the brake pedal, press the start button twice (the dashboard indicator will turn on).
2. Step on the gas pedal twice in full.
3. Move the position of the transmission lever to n followed by stepping on the gas pedal twice in full.
4. Move the transmission lever back to P and step back on the gas pedal twice in full.
5. Note that the indicator in the MID will show the Maintenance Mode.
6. After the indicator changes to Maintenance Mode, then do the following steps: Step on the brake pedal – press the start button, then the gasoline engine will turn on continuously to charge the small battery.
7. Leave the vehicle on for about 15 minutes so that the small battery power is recharged and the oil in the engine can circulate. After 15 minutes, the Toyota EV hybrid engine can be turned off.
