Compact design and affordable prices are the main attractions

At the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which took place at ICE BSD, Tangerang, the BYD ATTO 1 electric car managed to attract public attention. The compact design and prices starting from Rp. 195 million make this car an attractive choice for visitors, especially those who live in big cities like Jakarta.

Aang Suraji, one of the visitors, revealed that the Atto 1 design looks cute and compact, suitable as a city car in the middle of Jakarta’s traffic jams. He mentioned that this car easily enters narrow roads. However, he also highlighted that the responsiveness of electric cars can be a challenge, especially for novice drivers. “Small cars are usually used by beginners, so it’s a bit dangerous because the pull is very responsive,” he said. He emphasized the importance of educating the use of electric cars so that users can adapt technically and mentally when switching from conventional vehicles.

Combination of attractive design and full features

Paul Partohap is interested in the concept of ATTO 1. He said that this car offers a combination of attractive designs and full features for the size of the city car. “I like the city car, mini car but it looks good and the inside is futuristic and relieved,” he said. He also said that the price is very competitive with gasoline cars from other brands. “It’s incredible, affordable, and makes sense,” he added.

Ideal choice for family

Erna, a visitor who came with her husband, said that she was looking for a new car for daily needs. After retiring, he mostly picked up his grandchildren and saw ATTO 1 as the ideal choice. “I used to use a bigger car for work because it was suitable. Now I don’t work, but I have a new responsibility to pick up my grandchildren. So that’s the reason I want to buy ATTO 1,” he said. Erna loves the small and easy-to-drive Atto 1 dimensions on narrow streets. As an electric car, this vehicle freed it from the odd-even rule when traveling to the city center. “Because the car is small, it is easier to get into the small alleys. And this is an electric car, so you don’t have to worry about odd-even,” he said. Even so, Erna expressed her concern regarding some features. “But I saw that there was no navigation, even though I was very dependent on Waze. Then about the indent, I have to wait until October. And the most important thing is the service center, because we don’t know what the durability of this electric car is like,” he explained.

Ideal for daily activities

Dea, another visitor, also showed an interest in ATTO 1 as the second prospective car in his house. After seeing the interior firsthand, he felt this car was ideal for daily activities, especially when traveling with children. “But this is the front (transmission section, driving mode, and AC setting) it can be played by the children. “But overall it’s delicious, it’s suitable for me as a female driver because it’s not too big, it fits,” concluded Dea.

New Hope for Urban Vehicles

The response of these visitors shows that ATTO 1 is not just an affordable electric car. This car brings new hope about urban vehicles that are compact, affordable, and environmentally friendly. However, challenges remain, especially in terms of completeness of features and readiness of after-sales services, including education on the use of electric vehicles as a means of daily transportation. Going forward, BYD needs to pay more attention to ensuring users can take advantage of the full potential of this electric car.
