Apparently, changing the tire of an electric motorcycle can’t be done in a road repair shop!

Replacing tires on electric motors is different from conventional motors. This process requires special attention and cannot be carried out in ordinary workshops. Therefore, owners of electric motors must be more careful in changing tires.

Especially for the Honda EM1 E: electric motorcycle, the tire change process must be carried out by an expert or at a designated place. This is because the electric motor or dynamo is located on the rear wheel. So, if you want to change the rear tire, then special handling is needed so as not to cause problems.

Reza Resdie, Technical Service Division (TSD) of PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM), explained that the replacement of the rear tires on electric motorcycles must be carried out in the right way. “Replacing the rear tires requires special handling,” he said.

According to Reza, the owner of the electric motorcycle should return to the designated AHASS, such as the Honda E: Shop. “It is recommended if you want to change the rear tire back to the designated AHASS,” he added.

There are several technical things that must be considered before removing the rear wheels. “Because if you want to replace the tire, you have to remove the rear wheels that have electric motors,” explained Reza.

In addition, the electric motor is connected with several wires. “The electric motor is connected with several wires,” he continued. Motor owners also need to pay attention to the connectors used. “The connector to the electric motor dynamo is equipped with a tightening mechanism with bolts,” said Reza.

To remove the tire from the rim, special tools such as a tire changer are needed. “Then later to remove the tires from the rim, you have to use a tire changer machine,” he concluded.

Thus, tire replacement on an electric motor should not be done carelessly. There are components of the electric motor dynamo that must be treated properly so as not to damage the motor system. Therefore, the owner of an electric motor must choose a place that is already trusted and has special expertise in handling electric motors.
