Ducati DesertX V2 2026 with smaller engine, oil change every 2 years

Introduction to the New Generation Ducati DesertX

The latest generation Ducati DesertX was officially introduced at the Ducati World Premire 2026 event. This model is present as the second generation of Ducati Adventure motorcycles with major updates, especially in the engine sector which is now more modern and efficient.

significant changes to the engine

The latest DesertX uses a V2 engine with a capacity of 890 cc which replaces the previous engine, namely the 937 cc Testastretta L-Twin. This new engine no longer uses a typical Ducati desmodromic valve system, but adopts IVT (Variable Intake Valve Timing) technology.

In his official statement, the 890 cc V2 engine is claimed to be the lightest four-valve two-cylinder engine per cylinder ever produced by Ducati. Thanks to the IVT system, the power generated remains equivalent to the previous model, which reaches 110 hp.

The peak torque reaches 92 nm with a more even character. Ducati says about 70 percent of the maximum torque is available at 3,000 rpm, so the acceleration response feels fast, especially when it comes out of corners and when facing off-road terrain. This power character is designed to provide a combination of performance on off-road tracks as well as comfort on the highway.

transmission ratio adjustment

The transmission ratio is also adjusted specifically for adventure needs, with the first four gears being shorter to make it easier to pass through heavy obstacles, while the sixth gear is made longer to make it more efficient when driving at high speeds.

Longer oil change interval

One of the advantages of the new engine is the service interval that is much longer than the previous Ducati engine. Checking the valve gap is now carried out every 45,000 km, while oil changes are recommended every 15,000 km or every two years.

This long maintenance interval is one of the main added values for long-distance adventurous motorcycles such as DesertX, because it is able to reduce maintenance costs while increasing reliability when used in long journeys.

monocoque frame design

In addition to the new engine, the second generation DesertX also uses a monocoque frame that makes the machine a structural element as well as part of the airbox system. This design makes the motor construction more compact while increasing the rigidity of the frame for more precise control.

Distribution Schedule and Indonesian Market

Ducati scheduled the distribution of the latest DesertX to start in Europe in April 2026, then followed the United States in May, as well as Australia and Japan in June 2026. For the Indonesian market, Dito Mulyawadi, After Sales Director Ducati Indonesia, said that if the products sold globally, of course, will enter the country, although there may be time lags with other markets.
