Suzuki FronX: Two Different Engines at GIIAS 2025

Attractive offers from Suzuki Fronx at GIIAS 2025

Suzuki again showed its presence in the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Its unique and different design from previous Suzuki products immediately attracted the attention of exhibition visitors.

In addition, Fronx is also the first Suzuki model in Indonesia to be equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (FAD) safety technology. This technology provides additional safety and comfort for the driver and passengers. For those who are interested in Fronx, there are several important things to know, especially regarding the engine and its performance.

Suzuki offers two engine options for FronX, namely the K15B and K15C. Both have a capacity of 1,500 cc, but have significant differences in configuration and features.

K15B: Strong performance

The K15B engine is the basic variant available on the GL type. The configuration is a 4-cylinder DOHC 16 valve in line with a multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) system. This engine is also used on other Suzuki models such as the XL7, Ertiga, and Jimny.

In terms of performance, the K15B is capable of producing 104.6 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. This power is channeled to the front wheels through two transmission options, namely manual and conventional 4-speed automatic.

K15C: better efficiency

Unlike the K15B, the K15C engine is equipped with Mild Hybrid technology or Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS). This machine is available on the GX and SGX variants. Although the capacity is the same, the power and torque of the K15C is slightly lower than the K15B, which is 100.6 PS and 135 Nm at 4,400 rpm.

The main difference between the K15B and K15C lies in the dualjet injection system used in the K15C. This system allows the process of atomizing fuel that is more precise than MPFI, resulting in more complete and efficient combustion.

SHVS technology on the K15C combines the internal combustion engine with the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and lithium-ion batteries. ISG functions as an alternator and electric motor, providing a power boost when needed while reducing the workload of the engine. Lithium-ion batteries store regenerated energy and are used to support acceleration.

SHVS is also equipped with a braking regeneration feature, where when the vehicle slows down or brakes, the ISG functions as a generator that converts kinetic energy into electricity and stores it in the battery.

Overall, the SHVS system carries out three main functions, namely acceleration assist, regenerative braking, and auto stop engine.

Difference between transmission and price

One of the other differences between the K15B and K15C lies in the automatic transmission. In the GX (K15C) type, the automatic transmission has 6-speed, while the GL (K15B) type only has 4-speed.

In terms of price, Fronx is marketed from Rp. 259 million to Rp. 321.9 million (Jakarta’s price tag). Consumers also have the opportunity to get a discount promo of up to Rp. 10 million until September 2025. This makes Fronx an attractive choice for potential buyers who are looking for vehicles with modern designs and advanced technology.
