PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) gave a surprise that caught the eye during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2025) exhibition. They introduced their latest model, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. This model is part of the company’s efforts to support the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

President Director of PT TAM, Hiroyuki Ueda, explained that this launch reflects the company’s commitment to accelerate the penetration of electric vehicles in the local market. He also said that the Beyond Zero initiative was one of the main programs implemented by TAM to create a better future.

“At this GIIAS, we introduce a new battery-based model, namely the Toyota Urban Cruiser,” said Hiroyuki Ueda when speaking at the exhibition arena.

Attractive design

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV has a distinctive appearance with the latest design language from Toyota. The front adopts the ‘hammer head design’ which makes this car look fierce and modern. This design also brings a futuristic touch that is typical of the Toyota BZ series.

Meanwhile, the back of this car takes inspiration from the Suzuki E-Vitara. The rear view is equipped with an elongated LED light, giving a sporty and dynamic impression.

Competitive size

In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV has a fairly large size. The length of this car reaches 4,285 mm, a width of 1,800 mm, a height of 1,640 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Compared to other models such as the Toyota Raize, this car is bigger, but still more compact than the Yaris Cross.

Promising specifications

Although the official specifications have not been fully announced, information obtained from the European version shows that the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 61 kWh. With this battery, this car can cover a distance of up to 400 kilometers.

In terms of power, this car uses a driving motor capable of producing 184 hp of power. This shows that the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is not only environmentally friendly, but also has a fairly good performance.
