XLSmart (EXCL) Ready to Launch 5G Network in Sulawesi and Kalimantan

PT These two areas are the company’s main focus post-amalgamation, because they are believed to have a growing number of customers and an increasingly expanding network infrastructure.

XLSmart CEO Statement

Rajeev Sethi, President Director and CEO of XLSmart, said that this acquisition will expand the company’s scope and capabilities in providing the latest technology services. XLSmart will receive an increase in resources and spectrum, further strengthening its position in the development of 5G networks, including for the eastern region of Indonesia.

Focus on Sulawesi and Kalimantan

“The ongoing network infrastructure upgrade aims to prepare 5G services in our area. We are focusing on the provinces of Sulawesi and Kalimantan considering their very important position as gateways to the eastern region of Indonesia and their location close to the National Capital,” said Rajeev during a visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Thursday, April 24 2025.

5G Network Development Strategy

Rajeev also explained that his party was mapping out various strategies to provide 5G networks in the two regions. Currently, XLSmart is accessing and adapting to market demand in Sulawesi and Kalimantan, while waiting for the ongoing network unification process to be completed.

5G Infrastructure Adjustment

Once the network unification is complete, XLSmart will continue with the development of 5G network supporting facilities so that they can be accessed by their customers. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, and implementation of the 5G network will begin in the same year.

City Priorities for 5G Infrastructure

Moses H. Baottong, Sulawesi area manager for XLSmart, said that several cities, such as Makassar, Balikpapan and Morowali, are projected as priorities in the 5G infrastructure development project, thanks to their significant number of users. After this initial stage, XLSmart will determine the distribution of the 5G network more widely.

“We are currently integrating the network, and after completing this process at the end of the year, we will start the newest network service, namely 5G. Of course, several cities with a high number of users will be the main focus,” he said.
